Don't know the difference between an ATM and a Debit Card?

ATM (Automated Teller Machine) Cards and Debit Cards look similar, but they differ in many ways. Before you “pull out the plastic” to cover your next purchase, learn the difference between the cards and the convenience level they both offer.

We teamed up with VISA to develop the JAXFCU Debit Card. It's an ATM Card for when you want to pay “Cash,” and it’s also an alternative to writing checks for purchases.
When you use your Debit Card to make a purchase, the amount of your purchase is deducted from your JAXFCU checking account. You can use your Debit Card at retailers worldwide, including: grocery stores, gas stations, discount superstores, book stores, ticket counters, pharmacies, hotels, restaurants, and more! Sometimes the retailer will have a swipe device that requires you to enter a PIN, and other times, your transactions will be processed similar to a credit card (restaurants are a good example.)

Many members don’t know that you can use your Debit Card with your PIN or with just your signature (retailers often call this option “credit”). Either way, money comes out of your JAXFCU checking account. The only difference is that if you tell the clerk "Credit," you sign a slip, and if you tell the clerk "Debit," you enter your PIN number instead of signing.

Generally, your Debit Card will be accepted wherever you see the VISA logo displayed. (Ask the merchant for details.) If you have any questions about your Debit Card, visit your local JAXFCU Branch, or contact a Personal Account Representative today at (904) 475-8000 or toll-free at (800) 443-2664. If your card is lost or stolen, report it immediately to JAXFCU by calling our Card Services hotline (during business hours) at (904) 475-8080 or at (800) 472-3272 (after business hours).
